Lisa Anderson

  • Work for sale, may have works-in-progress, but I do like to talk about process

  • Lisa works primarily with watercolor, creating bold, vibrant compositions. She alters scale and employing emphasis to illustrate the true value of nature, believing that close observation can reveal a deeper sense of hope and connection.

Her Aperitivo series, developed during the Spring of 2020 while living in Northern Italy, reflects her deep admiration for Italian culture and people. Combining her love of hand lettering with bold, form and color, this series has resonated with audiences worldwide.

Complementing her expressive botanical studies, she creates abstract maps as a way of understanding and engaging with cultural landscapes. Her work aims to invite viewers to see the world anew.

  • Lisa Anderson is a Seattle-based artist, illustrator, and designer who earned her BFA from Cornish College of the Arts. Having lived in a dozen places and two countries before high school, her creative journey has been shaped by a lifelong fascination with culture and connection. Her expression is informed by her upbringing, Lisa's engineer and oil painter father interested in travel, language, and adventure, and a mother who was an educator, gardener, and fiber artist dedicated to rich soil and community. Her work reflects a desire to distill the world’s beauty and complexity into its most essential elements. The garden remains her true north—a grounding force that continually inspires her to see the world with fresh eyes and renewed purpose.

  • In addition to teaching college level classes and running an art and design studio, Lisa is now teaching year round at Dabble, in Seattle to inspire adult learners to enjoy watercolor painting, color, form and expression as an outlet, or to continue their art practice.

Lisa has balanced her time as an artist with design and illustration work, she will have some of her wine and distillery labels on display. She will have a stack of small prints available for those who enjoy portraiture. The small prints are from a series titled Notes.

  • You can spend time in her studio with work-in-progress and then visit the garden which should be in full bloom! She'd love to share information about her process and inspiration (including her Monkey Puzzle Tree from the 1962 World's Fair).

View Lisa's most recent work: Buds & Branches, Seeds & Pods and others. Archival quality prints and originals for sale.

  • Lisa's studio is easily accessible with plenty of parking available. Accessible through a gate to the back garden that will be clearly marked. There is a wide 5-step staircase to a landing with a direct entrance to her studio.
