Shoko Zama

  • Acrylic and mixed media paintings,

  • Moved to Seattle from Japan 1988, lived in LFP since 1990. Mostly self taught fine artist.

Nature and spirituality are the source of my creativity. Poetry and music inspire me.

  • Studio is surrounded by a bamboo garden, like in Japan or china. My newest works are like mandala. So people can enjoy the atmosphere. I can set up a calligraphy table for the people to experience.

I’ve been a Butoh dancer for last 12 years. I’ll be dancing in my teacher Joan Laage’s “wondering and wandering “ this summer in Japanese gardens in Seattle. I maybe invite my Butoh friends to perform in the garden.

  • Works-in-progress / process

  • There is a driveway in front of the studio where people can park. Also a plenty of street parking.
